March 2011

Although we are not through with March, we have been very busy. Spring is coming and to celebrate that coming, Vilnius has a HUGE fair the first weekend of March every year. We got Giuliana an Easter basket, some wooden Easter eggs and a cute new hat!

 They also have a celebration where spring (a skinny man) fights with winter (a fat man) and when the fight is over, they burn a straw woman (like a scarecrow woman). We celebrate this at school every year. The kids dress up in masks to scare away winter and chase the scarecrow woman around.

Giuliana loves looking out the window and watching dogs that pass bye....

This month Giuliana started cruising. She is into everything now!

We spent an afternoon at AJ's, a chocolate shop here in Vilnius. Giuliana enjoyed her 1st hot chocolate!

Giuliana is learning new words every day. She points to the light, dada, mama, ball, book, and waves bye bye. She will kick on command and her first word was ata (bye bye in Lithuanian). She waves and says "ata". Giuliana has also taken 1 step, and although we did not get it on video, we were on skype with my mom and dad! Since then, she does not take steps. Every time I start to let go of her hand, she immediately sits down.

Happy 2011! I realize it is now March 2011 and I have not posted any pictures since New Year's Eve.....sorry mom and dad! But here are some pictures of Giuliana in January. One of Kelly's students is from the Czech Republic and his mom is an infant swim teacher so she took Giuliana and I swimming a few times. Giuliana LOVED the water!
